The source-date code on a pot is a 6 or 7 digit code impressed into the casing of the potentiometer. For speakers this code can be 5, 6, 7 or 8 digits long, and it’s ink-stamped or paint-stamped on the “bell housing” of the speaker. In either case, the code works the same. The first 3 digits on a pot, or the first 2, 3 or 4 digits on a speaker are the source or manufacturer code. The remaining 3 or 4 digits are the date code. In 3 digit dates code, the 1st digit is the last digit of the year. On 4 digits date codes, the 1st and 2nd digits are the last two digits of the year.

This resulted in the so-called lawsuit period. During this period, Ibanez produced guitars under the Mann name to avoid authorities in the United States and Canada. The company has produced its own guitar designs ever since. The late s and early s were an important period for the Ibanez brand. Most Ibanez guitars were made by the FujiGen guitar factory in Japan up until the mid- to late s, and from then on Ibanez guitars have also been made in other Asian countries such as Korea, China, and Indonesia.

It arrived today and I’ll give my honest It arrived today and I’ll give my honest critique pre-gig. I’m sure there is nothing better in this range, and most people will be satisfied with this purchase. If you are a professional accustomed to using higher end equipment, this amp will fall short of your expectations unless you employ some additional tweaking. See below for some suggestions. Cabinet closed back, a big advantage for both durability and direction of sound is very robust and solid, However, it does make this amp weigh more than some would like it to given its small footprint.
You definitely want a lightweight hand truck for this and your other accessories. Front control panel controls are delicate. I would definitely get a custom cover made to protect the fragile 5 EQ band adjusters and knobs for level and click dial-up effects. Front grill is velcro-ed to the cabinet rather than 4 corner screws- but that didn’t seem to be an issue as far as the quality of the seal or any unwanted vibrations. Only cosmetic criticism is that the back seams of the tan laminated material are not that tight or flush, so you may want to find a matching color to permanently tape them before you start banging it around.
This is of course very personal and all depends on the guitar and mike you are using, and the kinds of venues you are playing.
Hey, who turned down the music?
The combination of size, weight and performance makes the Deluxe Reverb a true road warrior on gigs and practise. Since the year we have observed, by monitoring the amp market on US ebay, that low wattage amps have increased dramatically in popularity. We find it irrational. The PA was invented long time before that and guitar tones containing fuzz and distortion have been around since the sixties-seventies. Why has the desire for low wattage amps with watts of tube power come up so late?

These models were Fender models and not Squier models. The stratocasters had Fender USA pickups installed and were made for the Japanese market only and not for export. The Squier series were also made available for the Japanese market in October , which incorporated small changes compared to the export Squier series. The large Fender logo of the export Squier series was soon changed to a large Squier logo.
The SQ Squier series was introduced in late to early Squier Vista Series[ edit ] In , Squier began to manufacture the Vista Series, which saw them introducing their own unique guitar designs independent from the Fender mother company for the first time. Made in the same factory as the Japanese Fenders of the era, they were known as high quality guitars. Later, in 97, a guitar version of the Musicmaster Bass was added, though it should be noted this was based on the bass design, and not the Fender Musicmaster guitar design of the s.
By the Vista Series was discontinued.

Sunny Tampa, Florida muchxs said: Except I couldn’t sleep at night if I were. Maybe not a Super Reverb but there are a whole lot of parts in a new build You can’t begin to get close to building a Super Reverb for that. You won’t even have the parts. And if you can build amps and work that cheaply, I got a job for you.
The ” ” in the model name comes from the circuit change date of I will try my best to give a not-too-technical explanation of how the amp circuit works, what each component does, and how changing those components will affect the amp’s voice. The “blackface” nickname comes from the control panel color. I won’t be going over tube theory and other introductory material here so check it out if you have trouble understanding this webpage.

Tips and How-To’s Marshall amplifiers made hard rock possible. While Fender and Vox amps have their place in moving electrified guitar forward, the creations of Jim Marshall fostered an entirely new sound and allowed guitarists to fill stadiums with it. Marshall amps had such precedent-setting wattage and tone that their history can hardly be separated from the history of rock itself. We recently wrote an article detailing that rich history which you can read here , but for those simply looking to figure out how old their Marshall amp is, we offer this shortcut.
The guide below will help you quickly and clearly date Marshall amps and cabinets, without us waxing poetic about their influence. Click here to skip directly to information on Marshall serial numbers. Before we begin, a few caveats: Marshall model numbers look like years. If your amp says Model on the inside, that does not mean it was made in

I promise the tables will still be there after you finish reading. We also received a report of a tweed 5G12 Concert. The 5G12 Concert is the earliest version from very late and early so the existence of a tweed example, while extremely rare, is certainly plausible since Fender was making lots of tweed amps during the same time period. Working at FMI — I was able to interview a fellow who wishes to remain anonymous who worked at Fender in in the amp department.
Although his job was somewhat limited, his recollections provided some really fascinating insights to how the amps were built.

Go to menu top I never heard anything better than a Fender if we’re talking about the big manufacturers. Later on, in the Guitar section, I’ll also talk about Standel and EchoSonic , but they’re produced in such small numbers that it’s fair to say they’ll only have historic interest to the most of us So As long as you get a tube Fender you’ll probably be on the right track, because they all sound pretty good. It doesn’t have to be vintage at all, but they do look pretty cool.
Actually I started out playing a vintage Vox AC 30 and it wasn’t bad at all. The sound was very ‘tube’ and that’s what you’re looking for, but Fender is still the better choice for Rockabilly. Fender Bassman ’59 reissue Many Rockabilly guitarists play a ’59 Fender Bassman or similar – vintage or reissue. It sounds perfect for rockabilly. The distortion which is where you get the right sound from changes dramatically with change of volume.
That’s very impractically when you play live, where you have to adjust the volume after the size and acoustics of the place where you playing. I found a way to get around that and always have the same “Bassman-sound” no matter what volume I’m playing at Here’s a page with photos of some actual recording sheets where you can see how the SansAmp was set.
I play through my Fender Showman which has a very clean sound at all volumes. I then use the SansAmp GT2 pedal that can emulate the old Bassman as an insert between the amp and the guitar.
